Irish presidential results

Catherine Connolly, an independent candidate supported by left-wing parties, has been elected President of the Republic of Ireland. She will succeed Michael D Higgins, who was elected president twice (in 2011 and 2018). She won against her only opponent, Heather Humphrey (Fine Gael). Micheal Martin, Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Fianna Fail (right-wing) Simon Harris, Tánaiste (vice Prime Minister), Fine Gael (right-wing) and Heather Humphry were present at the announcement of the results. While voting took place on Friday, October 24, the results of the Irish presidential election were announced on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
