I’m Annabelle, a photojournalist, photographer and writer based in Ireland. My journey into the world of visual storytelling is a testament to my curiosity and resilience.
I grew up in the countryside in the centre of France, with my mother, a full-time nurse, and two autistic younger brothers.
Atypical myself, my only way out from reality was my dreams of travelling the world and sharing what I could see.
For years, I pursued a safe but unfulfilling career, moving between administrative roles, customer service, and project management at international pharmaceutical companies.
Until 2023, when I bought my first camera and from there, my whole life took its most significant leap forward.
In 2024, I joined the photojournalism program at Transmission Photo and later became a member of the Hans Lucas press agency. That same year, driven by a desire to document the harsh realities of our world, I competed in the Nikon x France Média Monde contest and won a place on the prestigious Reporting in Dangerous Areas course.
In 2025, I became a member of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Women in Journalism and joined Zuma Press.
Along with this new career came a new place I would call home: Ireland. If I first settled in the magnificent West Cork shores, I am now based in Carlow. I regularly travel for assignments, covering events throughout the country and internationally.
Whether working as a photographer on local assignments or as a photojournalist documenting broader issues, my work is defined by empathy and integrity. My areas of expertise are social issues, political events, protests, inequality, housing and cost-of-living crises, and the everyday realities of people who are too often overlooked.
My cinematic style brings a fresh, narrative-driven perspective to every project, aiming to create images that resonate with viewers and invite them to see the stories that extend beyond the frame.
If you need a professional photojournalist with a unique vision and commitment to powerful storytelling, I am the photographer you can rely on. My work consistently delivers originality and intention, capturing moments that matter with a distinct and memorable style.
Beyond photography, I write, explore, and continuously expand my skill set.
My long-term ambition is to deepen my work in international news, documenting climate change and conflicts while working on my first novel, which will open the way for four others and a spin-off. But that’s a story for another day.
